Ianto’s shrine was created following the character’s death in Children of Earth: Day Four as part of the Save Ianto Campaign. It is located on Mermaid Quay in Cardiff, where the Torchwood tourist office was depicted to be in the show. Its caretaker is Carol-Anne Hillman.

Plaque 1

Ianto Jones 1983-2009 Torchwood 3 Gave his life in defence of the children of this planet. The management of Mermaid Quay salutes you Note: Ianto Jones is a fictional character in the BBC television series Torchwood (part of the Doctor Who franchise) which was filmed in part at Mermaid Quay. Ianto died in a confrontation with an alien species known as the 456 in the Torchwood mini series Children of Earth which was first broadcast in the UK in July 2009. This is an impromptu memorial to the much-loved character.
